Blue Zones, a lifestyle mystery?
They are called blue zones. Places in the world where people live longer and healthier than anywhere else on Earth. People who live in one of these places live on average to 90 or even 100 years. And they not only live longer but also healthy life without drugs or disability.
In theory, like most of us, but in reality, few achieve it. Research has shown that people who live long healthy life in the blue zones, have low-stress experience, share their happiness with family and a sense of purpose in life coupled with a healthy dose of spirituality and adequate sleep. The fact is that people in these areas make use of olive oil and honey in their daily diet.
The five blue zones are as follows: Italian island of Sardinia; Okinawa, Japan; Loma Linda, California; isolated Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica; Ikaria, an isolated Greek island.
Long and healthy life is not mysterious
It is not hard to understand .. It’s a choice. And unfortunately most people choose condition. If you are already living the lifestyle blue zone, good for you! Continue to do so. If you are the living conditions of this lifestyle, it is never too late to begin. Several studies show that dramatic improvements in longevity and health can return to an individual, very soon after fixing a bad lifestyle.
In contrast to the directness of the two pillars of healthy eating and exercise, the third pillar of a healthy lifestyle is difficult to quantify precisely. How do we measure stress? How do we measure happiness? Can we go to church once a day, once a month, or not at all and still qualify as spiritual? While the details may be hard to define, I think at a high level we all need to be able to understand this point. If we are generally happy with our place in life, we behave in ways that promote health and longevity. We are more likely to take good care of our bodies in relation to health and happiness because our bodies are more frequently flooded with hormones and chemicals.
Long and healthy life if people in the blue zone is not achieved through quick fixes. You can not train hard on Sunday and then on your ass Monday through Saturday. You can not say that you’re healthy because you fresh salad next to that of an “unhealthy” eating greasy pizza. You can not mentally convert in one day and expect that the damage of decades of anger and stressful decisions erased.
Long and healthy life requires a constant, daily lifestyle of the positive enrichment for body and mind. For many this may seem difficult, but it does not have to be. Find ways to eat healthy. Find ways to get a meaningful daily routine instead of a chaotic schedule. Surround yourself with others who share similar interests. Get sufficient sleep.
Is it really so simple that the secret to a long and healthy life is nothing more than a lifestyle? No magic pill is needed? No sophisticated equipment is needed? The answer is yes! Live the life of the residents in the blue zone and make your life permanently.
